In the early days of Leather clubs organized by Leather Men, boys were to be seen and not heard, expected to serve the Men and rarely encouraged to grow and learn as boys. It was generally understood that a boy would bide his time until one day when he would become a Man himself. But some boys will always be boys.

With the inauguration of the Drummer boy title in 1992 and the American Leather boy title in 1995, the boy movement began. In June 1999, three boys founded the first boys club, the DC Boys of Leather. This club was based upon a philosophy of mutual respect and brotherhood. The club wanted to be inclusive and defined leather boy from the heart and not limited by age, gender, appearance or sexual orientation. Since then, the number of clubs increased to twenty-four.

Saint Louis Boys of Leather was formed in May 2002. Three clubs already existed in Saint Louis, the Show Me Bears and two leather clubs, Gateway MC and Blue Max CC, but none addressed the needs and wants of the boy community. So Pup Sparkie started recruiting boys, bois, pups, slaves, bottoms and subs to form a club of their own. The Saint Louis Boys of Leather currently has seven full members, several associate members, and is looking for new pledges to join the club. Our home bar is the Bad Dog Saloon.
